Obesity is a chronic disease caused by an excess of fat mass distributed differently in different body districts and in different individuals.
Food intolerance is considered an adverse reaction to food, caused by:
- A digestive defect due to enzyme deficiencies, resulting in intestinal accumulation of macromolecules
- An immune response, with G-type immunoglobulin (IgG) production towards these accumulated macromolecules. For this reason, this phenomenon can be defined as an IgG-mediated delayed food allergy. Under physiological conditions, ingested foods are absorbed along the gastrointestinal tract. Several scientific studies have shown the connection between dysfunctions of the intestinal barrier, the onset of food intolerances and an abnormal immune response of this tract.
